Internet Self-Awareness

Internet Self-Awareness
The Issue
In today’s modern era, the use of gadgets and digital devices has become a normal part of everyday life. Adults, teenagers, children, and even the elderly rely on the internet for communication, education, entertainment, business, and accessing information. Its convenience and efficiency make it an essential tool in our daily routines.
However, despite its widespread use, many individuals are not fully aware of how the internet works According ITU 2024 "report notes that 2.6 billion people (about one‑third of the world’s population) are offline, indicating a large share of the global population lacks basic exposure to how the internet works and therefore the digital literacy needed to use it safely" to and the risks that come with it. A lack of digital awareness can lead to serious consequences such as believing and spreading false information, falling victim to online scams, clicking malicious links, and exposing personal or private information. In some cases, even home addresses and sensitive data can be leaked due to insufficient knowledge about online safety.
This petition aims to promote greater awareness among “netizens” — individuals who actively use the internet — by encouraging basic education about how the internet functions, including its advantages and potential dangers. By increasing digital literacy, people can make safer decisions online, protect their personal information, and responsibly use digital platforms.
Through this initiative, we hope to empower internet users with the knowledge and awareness necessary to navigate the digital world safely, responsibly, and confidently.
