International Peace Charter

The Issue

The International Peace Charter (IPC) is a new organization, operating independently of the United Nations, with the purpose of achieving world peace.

All countries of the world must make an immediate declaration and commitment to:

1. Declaration of Peace and Respect for Diversity

All nations must make an immediate and unwavering declaration of peace. They must acknowledge, respect, and embrace cultural and religious diversity—both within their own borders and across the globe. The mindset of war, dominance, and the pursuit of power over others must be abandoned. Instead, nations must uphold the rights, freedoms, and dignity of all individuals, both their citizens and those of the world.

2. Cessation of Military Conflicts

All nations must commit without delay to ending all forms of military conflict. Armed aggression and warfare must no longer be acceptable tools of policy or power.

3. Respect for Sovereign Borders

The territorial integrity of all countries must be respected. Nations must pledge to honor existing borders and resolve disputes through peaceful dialogue and diplomacy.

4. Reduction and Elimination of Military Weapons

A global initiative must be launched to reduce and ultimately eliminate military arsenals, including both conventional and nuclear weapons. Resources should be redirected toward development, education, and humanitarian efforts.

5. Redefining Military Purpose

The role of military forces must shift to a purely defensive and peacekeeping capacity. Their function should be non-provocative, focused on protecting national sovereignty and maintaining internal security—not on offensive operations or foreign intervention.

6. Adherence to International Justice

All countries must recognize and abide by the authority of the International Criminal Court (ICC). The ICC must be supported as a permanent, impartial body to prosecute the most serious international crimes, including genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, and acts of aggression.

7. Promotion of Meditation for Collective Harmony

Nations must encourage and support the practice of meditation among their citizens. Scientific research shows that group meditation fosters a collective consciousness that leads to reduced crime and conflict, promoting peace and harmony. While this concept is not widely known, it is a vital and transformative tool for creating a more peaceful global society.

The ultimate goal is to reach the governments of each country to endorse and ratify the International Peace Charter.

The International Peace Charter (IPC) was founded by Miles Craig, a spiritual, private Canadian citizen living in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, with a background in business and philanthropy.

Miles’ concern for wars throughout the world, in particular the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East, led to his belief that there is a critical need for a new peace organization and new international peace charter encompassing all 198 countries of the world.

He believes that the countries responsible for existing wars exhibit war mentalities while benefiting from the proliferation of military weapons, including both conventional and nuclear arms.

World peace requires responsible and mature leadership from the leaders of every country.

Miles’ vision is for an international peace movement through the connective power of the internet. Approximately 70% of the Earth’s population (about 5.5 billion people), are internet users. Miles proposes that citizens of the world send messages to their leaders in support of peace and solidarity. The power of people, personal action, and prayer is not to be underestimated. Prayer being both the oral, written, or request for intervention from God.

The ultimate goal is to reach the governments of each country to endorse and ratify the International Peace Charter.
