The Philippines is home to a lot of animal species; there are 612 species of birds, more than 200 species of mammals, 111 species of amphibians, 270 species of reptiles, about 330 species of freshwater fish, and nearly 21,000 species of insects are found all throughout the country. All of these animals are essential in maintaining the balance of our dearest planet.

           And yet, acts of harm committed by humans against these animals are a common occurrence in everyday society. These deeds appear in various forms, such as neglect, domestic animal abuse, animal fighting for sport, and unnecessary laboratory experiments. The worst thing is that they are normalized, making it is easier for people to not concern themselves with the issue.

       If these continue, endangered animals will go on to become extinct, and those who are, for now, of least concern, may become endangered. And, the removal of a single species in the complicated system that runs the world could lead to an upheaval of its whole.
