Internally review the Anchorage Police Dept. and Anchorage prosecutors office

The Issue

On October 14th, 2025 the Anchorage Police Department responded to an Anchorage home occupied by a 36yo male. Inside the home they found an unrelated 13yo female who "exhibited signs of extreme drug or alcohol intoxification and had difficulty walking and maintaining consciousness" according to a pretrial detention memo

Despite cooperation from the 13yo female's family and compelling evidence that felonies against a vulnerable, unrelated minor were happening at the scene, APD officers and the Anchorage prosecutors office allowed the 36yo male to remain a free member of the public until the FBI arrested him over 4 months later on February 20th. If it were not for the actions of the FBI in this case it is unclear if the 36yo male would have ever been arrested or prosecuted.

The APD and the Anchorage prosecutors office have a long history of failing to enforce state laws against violent criminals. They attempted to release the library stabber almost immediately after he paralized a Coast Guard mom. Propublica has run news articles describing alarming trends of "hundreds" of domestic violence and child abuse charges being dropped without prosecution.

This petition is calling for an investigation into the APD and Anchorage prosecutors office to determine why violent crimes and sexual crimes against children are not being brought to justice. There are many cities in America that are comparable to Anchorage in scope of population and budget where violent criminals and sexual predators are brought to justice but in Anchorage... they are not. The public has a right to know how this keeps happening.
