Canvas currently uses a megaphone icon to represent announcements. However, the speaking head emoji sparks an emotional response amongst Canvas's main users, college students. These users are part of Generation Z, the first generation to start using digital technology at a young age. As a result, this generation has adopted emojis as a way to communicate. In addition, according to Google Trends, web searches for the speaking head emoji have increased exponentially since April 11th, meaning the world's interest in this emoji is only growing. For Canvas's future success and the best interest of its users, the platform needs to change the current megaphone icon used for announcements to the speaking head emoji.
