The Issue

Since the closure of the nearby intersection for the construction of a roundabout, our residential street has increasingly become a cut-through route for drivers seeking to avoid delays. What was once a quiet neighborhood street is now experiencing significantly higher traffic volumes and excessive vehicle speeds. Many drivers are failing to stop at posted stop signs, frequently running through intersections and creating a huge hazard for children on bikes.

Although the posted speed limit is 15 mph, it is common to observe vehicles traveling well over 40 mph. This poses a serious risk to everyone who lives here, especially children, pedestrians, cyclists, and families who use the street daily.

Unfortunately, these concerns are no longer hypothetical. A neighbor's dog was recently struck by a speeding vehicle. Residents have also experienced drivers honking aggressively and yelling at pedestrians simply for using the street. Many families no longer feel comfortable allowing their children to play near the sidewalk or safely walk through the neighborhood.

Our neighborhood should be a place where residents can walk, children can ride bicycles, and families can enjoy being outdoors without fear of speeding vehicles. We respectfully ask for your participation in restoring the safety and peace of our community.
