Over 800,000 children under the age of 10 die each year in India due to inadequate or unsanitary water supply. Children, unlike older people, cannot fend for themselves, and as a result, many children especially those under 10 years, who come from a financially weak background are unable to get access to hygienic, drinking water. 

However, this like any other issue is not unsolvable. To ensure that children do not lack sanitary water sources, it is necessary that the Government of India takes proactive action of installing efficient water sources such as faucets and water dispensers all around the country with a focus on rural and semi-urban areas. It is also important that the Government regularly sanitizes and disinfects the water supply lines for these water sources.

This would ameliorate the lives of hundreds of thousands if not millions of poverty-stricken children. Over a long period of time, the lives of such children would become healthier. Not only would this increase India's life expectancy but it would allow millions of more people to contribute to mainstream society.
