Breffni Road and the busy T-junction leading to CastlePark Road, has long been overlooked in terms of essential safety features. Residents and community members have voiced growing concerns over this neglect, particularly considering that it stands as one of the last few local areas without speed ramps. This oversight poses potential daily dangers to children.

Every school day, young children attempt to navigate this challenging crossing on their way to school. These children face the task of looking in three directions for traffic, then dodging speeding vehicles. Cars and motorbikes are frequently observed disregarding the speed limit, accelerating down this stretch and creating a hazardous environment.

The absence of speed ramps and a zebra crossing at this critical juncture is a serious safety risk. It is only a matter of time before there is a serious accident. Just a little further up the road a school gate opens directly onto a busy blind corner on this road...

We urge Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown County Council to prioritize the installation of speed ramps and a zebra crossing in the vicinity of the Brefini Road and the CastlePark Road junction. Such infrastructural enhancements will drastically reduce the speed of vehicles.
