Install Warning Lights on High Street Crosswalks

Install Warning Lights on High Street Crosswalks
The Issue
My name is Sunny Fan, and I am a student at Ohio State.
For those who like it short - we need lights on our most populated crosswalks, so that our drivers can see our pedestrians walk across our streets.
For those who have time to read a bit more - Hundreds of Ohio State Students walk across the crosswalks of high street everyday. These crosswalks are poorly lit, and they pose as a public safety threat to my fellow peers.
Throughout my four years at Ohio State, I have seen numerous pedestrians being run over by cars, and hundreds of close calls. Although these numbers are not fatal, would it really cost a fatal number for action to be taken?
My peers - they are smart, and they have a bright future ahead of them. The people that walk across these streets - they are our future doctors, our future leaders, and most importantly, they are future mothers and fathers. We must do our best to protect our future.
On March 9, I went to speak to at the Columbus City Council, advocating for these lights on our crosswalks, only to be met with a mere “we’re working on it”. Four years have I’ve been at this university, and for four years, I have seen no work to be done for these crosswalks.
Buckeyes and Ohioans, we must come together to address this pressing issue.
My peers and I should not walk across another crosswalk, fearing for our lives.
