In the heart of Ballarat, Victoria, we mourn the tragic loss of a cherished soul from a recent road incident at the intersections of Finch and Ballarat Carngham road.

Our community should never endure such heartbreak again. The absence of traffic signals contributed to this tragic incident, highlighting a clear need for immediate change.

Ballarat Carngham Road, running through our community's centre, is frequently congested, and the lack of necessary control measures like signals at these intersections leads to risks we have realised all too painfully.

According to the Australian Road Deaths Database, there was a 4.4% increase in road fatalities in Victoria in 2024.

We need traffic signals at these intersections of Finch Rd & Galway Dr not just to prevent future tragedies, but also to ensure a safer, smoother, and less chaotic traffic experience for all road users in our community.

By installing signals at the Finch and Galway intersections, we can take a vital step towards reducing the potential for severe accidents and loss of life in the future.

In the interim atleast reduce speed limit from 80kms to 60kms as it's really unsafe for merging traffic from neighbouring estates.
