With 24/7 busy traffic, there is no safe crossing to ensure the safety of students who need to cross the road multiple times daily. Recently, a friend of mine, like many others who cross this road several times a day to attend classes, was injured in a traffic-related incident. This area needs urgent attention before more accidents occur.

Shivaji Nagar is one of the busiest areas in Pune, known for its constant buzz and movement. However, the lack of a dedicated pedestrian crossing or traffic light in front of the COEP hostel poses a severe safety threat to students and locals alike. Day and night, students are compelled to dart through fast-paced vehicles, an act that is both alarming and perilous.

According to data from the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), Pune registers a high number of road accidents yearly, and ignoring such obvious hazards is simply negligent. Installing a traffic light in front of the hostel not only reduces the risk of accidents but also ensures a smooth flow of vehicles without abrupt stops that increase commute time.

It is crucial for the safety of students and the residents of Shivaji Nagar that the government installs a traffic light at this critical location. Let's urge the local authorities to take immediate actions to install a traffic light in front of the COEP hostel.
