We aim to address an urgent concern for the community living on the Isle of Anglesey, UK - the stark necessity for suicide prevention nets on our bridges. It is a deeply troubling fact that the rate of suicides in the UK has been rising, with over 6,500 suicide cases in 2018 alone as reported by the Office for National Statistics. Bridges can sadly be magnets for those experiencing suicidal thoughts, and installing safety nets can deter these tragic incidents. San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge, after its net installation, experienced a significant reduction in suicide attempts - a clear testament to the effectiveness of this measure. Isle of Anglesey, it is time we prioritise the safety and well-being of our community.
