The Issue

One afternoon, as we were walking our dog down N 162nd Dr between Okeechobee and Harlena, we came frighteningly close to being hit by a vehicle speeding down the road, and at that moment, we realized the urgent need for enhanced safety measures in our community.

Our neighborhood is vibrant and full of life, with children playing, families walking, and cyclists exploring. Yet, speeding vehicles have become a significant threat.

That's why we're calling on local authorities to install speed humps on N 162nd Dr. between Okeechobee Blvd and E Harlena Dr. These traffic calming measures have proven to be effective in reducing vehicle speeds, enhancing safety for both pedestrians and drivers. Speed humps not only slow down traffic but also remind drivers to be courteous and cautious, aligning with the family-friendly spirit of our community.

According to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, traffic calming strategies like speed humps can reduce traffic speeds by as much as 25%, drastically decreasing the risk of accidents and creating safer streets. Prioritizing the safety of our children, families, and community members over the convenience of a fast drive should be paramount.

We have a reasonable and actionable solution at our fingertips. Implementing speed humps is a direct, effective way to mitigate speeding concerns and protect our beloved community. By signing this petition, you will send a resounding message to those in power that the safety of Loxahatchee's residents is not negotiable.

Join us in this endeavor to make our streets safer for everyone. Let's bring about change before any more lives are endangered. Please sign this petition to support the installation of speed humps on N 162nd Dr to ensure the wellbeing of all Loxahatchee citizens.
