The Issue

I'm deeply concerned about the safety of our neighborhood due to the excessive speeding on our roads. Every day, I witness cars racing down our streets, creating a hazardous environment for our children who play outside, our families who walk or bike along the sidewalks, and for anyone living or visiting our community.

Our streets should be a safe haven, especially for our kids who deserve to play freely and safely. But with the current situation, it's becoming increasingly worrisome. It's only a matter of time before a tragic accident occurs, and we cannot wait for that to happen. We need to be proactive to ensure the safety of everyone in our neighborhood.

Installing speed bumps or other speed deterrent devices is a practical and effective solution to this pressing issue. Speed bumps have proven to reduce vehicle speed significantly. According to studies, they can lower traffic speeds by up to 10 mph or more, which dramatically minimizes the risk of accidents. Moreover, these devices are cost-effective and can be installed relatively quickly, providing a rapid response to an urgent problem.

There are countless examples across the country where communities have successfully implemented such measures to enhance safety. By following their lead, we can transform our streets into a safer environment for all residents, particularly our children who deserve the freedom to play without fear.

I urge the city council and relevant authorities to prioritize the safety of our neighborhood by installing speed bumps or other effective speed deterrents. Let's not wait for an accident to cave into action. Sign this petition today to show your support and help us make our community safer for everyone.
