Every moment that this continues, we stand the risk of experiencing a tragic accident that could have been prevented.

Mullen Rd NW is frequently used as a shortcut by motorists attempting to avoid congested main roads. This has resulted in vehicles traveling at unsafe speeds far above what is appropriate for a neighborhood environment. Residents have reported several near-misses because of reckless driving, and this has increased apprehension about the safety of our public spaces. We fear for the lives of our children playing outside and for pets wandering unsuspectingly into the street.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, speed bumps have proven effective at reducing vehicle speeds by up to 25%. Installing a minimum of seven speed bumps strategically placed along Mullen Rd NW could significantly calm traffic and promote driver awareness. Other neighborhoods that have implemented similar measures have not only seen a drop in vehicle speed but also a notable decrease in accidents and an increase in pedestrian activity, as residents feel safer on their streets.
