Install speed bumps on Melba Ave, Sunbury VIC

Install speed bumps on Melba Ave, Sunbury VIC
The issue
Living on Melba Ave in Sunbury, VIC has become an increasingly challenging experience for our community, and particularly for those of us with families. Since moving here just a few months ago, I have repeatedly encountered the dangers posed by speeding vehicles and reckless drivers who show blatant disregard for the safety of residents.
Despite complaints, the police are often unable to respond to these incidents, being tied up with high priority calls elsewhere. This lack of enforcement leaves us vulnerable and without recourse to address the ongoing issue.
Our children are waking up at night startled by loud motorcycles and racing cars, disrupting their sleep and ours. It’s an ongoing problem that affects our quality of life and peace of mind knowing that the safety measures on our street are insufficient.
Installing speed bumps on Melba Ave offers a simple yet effective solution. Speed bumps are proven to slow traffic down significantly which results in less recklessness.
Moreover, the presence of speed bumps will serve as a constant reminder to drivers that they are entering a residential area where caution and reduced speed are necessary for the safety of everyone.
Our goal is to create a safe and peaceful environment for all residents, particularly those with young families who deserve to feel secure in their own homes. This petition seeks to gather the support of our community to request the Hume City Council to prioritize the installation of speed bumps on Melba Ave.
To our neighbors and fellow residents of Melba Ave and the whole of Sunbury: your signatures are crucial to demonstrate to local authorities the collective will for change. By signing this petition, you're advocating for the safety and well-being of our community, urging the council to take immediate action.
Join us in our quest for a safer Melba Ave and help ensure that our street is a safe haven for all who live here. Please sign the petition to show your support.
