Install Speed Bumps and Prevent the Construction of Fire/Police Station in Our Subdivision

Install Speed Bumps and Prevent the Construction of Fire/Police Station in Our Subdivision
The Issue
Our community is a blend of diverse age groups including small children, senior citizens, some of whom are grappling with PTSD, and beloved pets. However, our tranquility is on the verge of being shattered due to the excessive speed of vehicles and the proposed placement of a fire/police station in front of our subdivision. The unwelcome combination of these two issues poses significant safety risks to our most vulnerable residents and disrupts the peaceful environment we've fostered.
The problem of speeding within our subdivision heightens the risk of tragedies. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, for every 10mph over 50mph, the risk of death in a traffic accident is doubled. The installation of concrete speed bumps will significantly reduce this risk by making drivers more aware of their speed and compelling them to slow down.
On the other hand, while we understand the necessity of emergency services, situating a fire/police station directly in front of our subdivision is not the solution. The frequent blaring of sirens is not only a nuisance but can be triggering for our neighbours battling PTSD. The Department of Veterans Affairs studies indicate that sudden, loud noises are among the top triggers for PTSD symptoms.
We, therefore, request the city of South Fulton to consider these concerns. Install speed bumps on our streets and reconsider the placement of the fire/police station. Let's prioritize the safety and peace of our community.
