Install pedestrian crossing outside Cavendish Park Care Home

Install pedestrian crossing outside Cavendish Park Care Home
The Issue
My heart sank when I received the news: a friend had been hit by a car while attempting to cross the road outside Cavendish Park Care Home on Offenham Road, Evesham.
This tragic incident underscores a dangerous reality – one my own children face every day as they navigate this busy road to catch their school bus.
This stretch of Offenham Road is designated as a 30 mph zone, yet vehicles frequently exceed this limit, creating a hazardous environment for pedestrians.
A bus stop on the opposite side forces residents, school children, and elderly pedestrians to cross without any safe designated point.
Adding to the risks, the Evesham Baptist Church Community Centre is also located directly opposite the care home, drawing regular foot traffic from families, community groups, and older residents throughout the week.
We are calling on Worcestershire County Council to take immediate action by prioritising Ref #1760290 and installing a pedestrian crossing or refuge outside Cavendish Park Care Home.
According to Department for Transport data, properly designed pedestrian crossings can reduce pedestrian casualties by up to 39%.
This small intervention could prevent future tragedies and protect everyone who lives, works, or travels along Offenham Road.
The safety of our community must be a top priority.
Let’s not wait for another accident to happen before action is taken.
👉 Please sign this petition and join us in urging Worcestershire County Council to make Offenham Road safer for everyone.
