The Issue

Being able to take my dog to the dog park at night is a big part of our day and something we look forward to, for both me and my dog, as well as for other community members and their pets. It's not just about play; it's a vital source of exercise and social interaction. During the summer, we have the luxury of enjoying the park until 9 PM, but as fall and winter approach, our time is drastically cut short with darkness setting in around 5 PM. Many of us, myself included, work until that time or later, severely limiting our ability to use the park during the week.

The installation of lights at Doug smith Art Dye Dog Park would transform this space into a year-round haven for pet owners like myself. It would enable us to maintain our routines and continue benefiting from the physical and mental workout our daily visits provide. Moreover, it would help sustain the sense of community that the park fosters, allowing friendships to blossom and dogs to socialize regardless of the season.

This is not just a personal plea but a call for community action. Ensuring our local park is accessible and safe after dark would enhance the quality of life for numerous residents. Lights would not only extend usability but also improve safety by deterring unwanted behavior and ensuring everyone can navigate the area without risk.

We need your support to make this happen. By signing this petition, you are joining me in asking local authorities to prioritize the installation of lighting at Mary Art Dye Dog Park. Let’s come together to enhance our community and keep our park a vibrant, inclusive space all year long. Please sign and share this petition to help make this much-needed change a reality.
