As community members residing in Aventura, we treasure our Founders Parks - South and North. These parks serve as an oasis of recreational activities for both children and adults. However, our cherished experience is tainted by a looming safety concern as we continuously witness vehicles ignoring the pedestrian cross due to the absence of clearly visible crosswalk and signs

Currently, the pedestrian crossing is marked with non-illuminated signs that many drivers overlook, especially after dark. The negligence of such important safety measures places park visitors in peril. Crossing the Street should not be an act of bravery, but a routine part of enjoying our beloved parks.

To prevent potential accidents, it's crucial to introduce flashing LED lights on the pedestrian crosswalk and signs. These lights have proven to be an efficient solution in increasing sign visibility, especially in areas of heavy traffic. According to a study by the U.S. Department of Transportation, enhanced roadway signs with lights can decrease pedestrian and vehicle crashes by 28.9% due to their easy noticeability.

We love our parks, but more importantly, we value the safety of our community members. Let's protect our quality of life and help STOP potential accidents before they happen by making our crossings more visible.
