Having lived in West Bromwich for more than 35 years, I can truly call it home. However, recently my sense of safety has been shattered due to the distressing situation at Kendrick Park. The park, once a place of leisure and peace, has become a hotbed for criminal activities, including drug trafficking and violent crimes. The recent incident where a woman was tragically raped within the park's precincts has left our community in shock and fear.

It's not just an isolated event; the danger looms over everyone who passes through or around the area. Many locals now avoid using the park altogether, losing a valuable space for recreation and community gathering. We must act now to reclaim our community's sense of safety and restore Kendrick Park as a safe haven in West Bromwich.

Increased lighting and the installation of CCTV cameras throughout the park are practical steps we can take to deter crime and increase security. Moreover, removing the dense bushes along the dual carriageway to improve visibility, and installing gates for controlled access, could provide additional protection for everyone using the park.

According to recent statistics, well-lit areas have significantly lower crime rates. In fact, a study by the University College London found that street lighting reduced crime by around 21%. Implementing these changes can make Kendrick Park a safer place for families, joggers, and all residents.
