The Issue

In the small town of Twin Falls, ID, USA, the beautiful view from the Perrine Bridge overlooks a deeper issue. Here, the statistics of mental health crises are growing alarmingly in our city. As a worker in the mental health field and someone who has survived personal suicide attempts, I understand the pressure so many are facing. A change is required to help a growing issue.

The Perrine Bridge can become not only a symbol of our city's beauty but also a beacon of support and safety in the face of mental health challenges. It's a small step we can take to provide some help during times of immense need. Let's install emergency call boxes at this landmark, and include crisis and mental health management information. These resources could provide critical help in moments of crisis and potentially save lives.

According to the National Institute of Mental Health, suicide is the tenth leading cause of death in the United States and Idaho has one of the highest suicide rates in America. Deploying resources to aid in mental health crises is a crucial step in working to combat these tragic circumstances. By taking this step, our city can provide a source of hope to those feeling hopeless, and a lifeline to those who feel like they’re disappearing into the abyss.

Join us in our initiative to reduce mental health fatalities and increase support for those in need. Let us ensure that anyone standing on that bridge knows that they do not stand alone. Please sign this petition for the installation of emergency call boxes and mental health information resources at the Perrine Bridge.

"You’re flying now, you see things much more clear than from the ground. It’s all okay, or it would be were you not now halfway down. Thrash to break from gravity, what now could slow the drop? All I’d give for toes to touch the safety back at the top. But this is it, the deed is done, silence drowns the sound. Before I leaped I should’ve seen the view from halfway down."

No one deserves to fight alone.
