My family lives in public housing, and during the summer months, the heat becomes unbearable.  The state was approved for central air conditioning and they used the money to buy fans. Many inmates supporters including disabled and the elderly, suffer from extreme temperatures that can lead to health issues such as heat exhaustion and dehydration. According to the CDC, over 600 people in the United States are killed by extreme heat every year. Installing central air conditioning would significantly improve living conditions and ensure a safer environment for all inmates .
