Install Bells and Audible Warning Devices at SEPTA's Roslyn Station Crossing

The Issue

As a passionate train enthusiast and advocate for railroad crossing safety, I am deeply concerned about the lack of audible warning devices at the railroad crossing at SEPTA's Roslyn station, located at the intersection of Easton Road and Susquehanna Road. The absence of bells or other sound signals poses a significant risk to public safety.

Both Easton and Susquehanna Roads are bustling thoroughfares with heavy traffic. The presence of pedestrian crosswalks further complicates this situation. Without an audible warning system in place, blind pedestrians or those with impaired vision have no way to discern when a train is approaching - an oversight that could lead to catastrophic consequences.

I contacted SEPTA, PennDOT, and the Federal Railroad Administration on this matter, but none of them have done anything to resolve this issue.

According to the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), approximately 270 fatalities occur annually in America due to railroad crossing incidents. This statistic underscores the urgency for implementing comprehensive safety measures at all railway crossings, including those on SEPTA's Warminster Line.

The installation of bells or similar auditory warning systems can significantly enhance safety by alerting motorists and pedestrians alike when trains are approaching. It is crucial that we prioritize such improvements in our community, starting with this busy intersection in Roslyn.

I urge you to support this petition calling for immediate action from relevant authorities to install audible warning devices at the grade crossing on Easton Road and Susquehanna Road on SEPTA's Warminster Line. Your signature can help prevent potential accidents and save lives in our community.
