Install baby boxes in safe spaces across towns and cities

The Issue

As a mother myself, it breaks my heart to see the tragic stories of newborns abandoned in unsafe places, suffering unduly. This is an issue that deeply affects me because it highlights the desperate situations some mothers find themselves in when they have no safe options to turn to. By installing baby boxes in all fire stations, churches, or any designated safe spaces in towns and cities, we can provide a secure and anonymous way for mothers to make the difficult decision to safely relinquish their babies.

Every year, we hear about newborn babies found in unsafe environments, leading to unfathomable losses. These mothers, often overwhelmed and frightened, are faced with an incredibly tough choice. Why not give them a safer option that secures the child’s future and provides peace of mind to the mothers? Baby boxes offer a lifeline to both mother and child. By allowing mothers to anonymously leave their baby in a secure, monitored environment, they ensure the child can be safely cared for.

The proposal also includes forming a network of volunteers who will act as a safe haven. These volunteers, when a child is dropped off, will immediately take the baby to the hospital for check-ups and will stay with the child until social service professionals arrive. These volunteers will be meticulously vetted, including undergoing DBS checks, to ensure they are fully able to provide a safe environment for the baby.

This initiative does not only aim at providing babies with a chance at life, but it also stands as a testament to societal compassion and responsibility. It offers mothers an option without shame or judgement, encouraging a more supportive community. Let's support this cause and help save innocent lives.

Please sign this petition to urge authorities and community leaders to establish baby boxes and volunteer networks in safe spaces all across our towns and cities. Together, we can make a difference for both mothers and babies.
