Install an accessible pathway on Sewerby Clifftops

Install an accessible pathway on Sewerby Clifftops
The Issue
Tommy, is a 16-year-old who values his independence, navigating life as a wheelchair user. Unfortunately, his desire for freedom is often thwarted by the hazardous and uneven grassy terrain at the Sewerby Clifftops. On more than one occasion, Tommy has fallen from his wheelchair, an experience no family should endure.
The clifftop area poses significant accessibility challenges, not only for Tommy but also for countless others. As owners of Bondville Model Village, we frequently hear from potential visitors who find themselves unable to enjoy the beauty and attractions we offer due to these very access issues.
Currently, the absence of a safe, accessible pathway from the land train stop across the grassed car park to Bondville Model Village means that wheelchair users, individuals with mobility challenges, elderly visitors, families with pushchairs, and anyone with reduced maneuverability often find the journey difficult, if not impossible. The uneven ground is a significant barrier to accessibility, limiting the freedom and enjoyment of many residents and tourists alike.
East Riding Council has the power to transform this area by installing a proper pathway. This action would not only foster inclusivity but would also enhance the appeal of Sewerby Clifftops as a welcoming space for everyone. Such improvements have been successfully implemented in numerous other attractions worldwide, making them accessible to all.
Join us in urging East Riding Council to do the right thing. By signing this petition, you are advocating for a simple yet profound change that will ensure equal access and enjoyment of Yorkshires only model village for everyone, regardless of ability. Sign now and be a part of creating a more inclusive community.
