Install Adequate Lighting in Our Neighborhood for Safety at Night

The Issue

Our family recently relocated to this neighborhood. We quickly noticed a glaring issue: the lack of sufficient lighting at the entry point of the community. This makes navigating our way home after dark a nightmare - it's both a hazard and dangerous. Entering and leaving our house at night has become an anxiety-inducing event due to poor visibility.

In fact, appropriate street lighting is a critical component of public safety. According to the U.S Federal Highway Administration, well-lit communities and roadways reduce vehicular crashes by up to 50% at night (FHWA, N.d.). Not only does adequate lighting enhance public safety by inhibiting potential crime, it also provides the residents with psychological comfort by eliminating fear of the dark spaces.

We urge Baldwin City Hall to prioritize our safety and install adequate lighting at the entry point of the community. The decision to enhance security through adequate illumination would improve the quality of life for us and our neighbors. Sign this petition to bring light to our concerns.
