I am a resident of Vista, CA, and every day I face an unsafe commute to and from school due to the lack of a traffic signal at the intersection of Cedar Drive and Vista Way. This intersection has become notorious among locals for its potential danger. The absence of a traffic signal not only poses risks for drivers but also for pedestrians who cross this busy intersection daily.

According to data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), intersections without traffic signals are more than twice as likely to experience fatal crashes compared with those that have signals. In California alone, there were 3,606 fatal accidents in 2019 - many occurring at unsignaled intersections.

The installation of a traffic signal would greatly enhance safety by regulating vehicle movement and reducing conflicts between various road users. It is not just about my safety; it's about the safety of all residents in our community who use this route regularly.
