The Issue

As a resident and worker in Pleasantville, I’m asking the City to install a traffic light at Woodland Avenue and 253 North New Road before another serious accident happens.

This intersection has become a danger to drivers, students, and families, with cars speeding, cutting across lanes, and even crashing into nearby buildings and sidewalks.

It’s located near Pleasantville High and Middle Schools and right next to a park where children play daily — yet there’s no traffic signal or protection for pedestrians.

Why It’s Urgent:
Accidents happen here almost every month — from cars jumping curbs to multi-vehicle crashes.
Recent incidents include:

UPDATE: October 16th, 2025

  It happened again.

Another accident at the same intersection — this time a car crashed straight through the fence at Billows Electric on the corner. It’s honestly heartbreaking and frustrating to keep seeing this. This intersection has become a real danger for everyone — drivers, students walking to school, and families near the park.

This intersection desperately needs a traffic light to:
- Prevent crashes and reckless speeding
- Protect students walking to school
- Keep children safe at the park

The safety of our community can’t wait any longer.
