John Truman aka Radio Ron was a Christchurch institution known to many in the city for hanging out at Cashel Mall, Victoria Street and Westfield Riccarton with his trusty transistor radio blaring full blast. In light of John's sad passing and to acknowledge the countless smiles he put on people's faces over the years a statue or plaque should be installed by the council at one of Ron's favourite hangout spots as a tribute.
