Install a Statue of Dave Myers on the Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square

The Issue

We are advocating for an installation of a statue of Dave Myers, one half of The Hairy Bikers, on the Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square. This proposed statue would not only honor a beloved public figure but also serve as a symbol of positive masculinity. The majority of statues in our public spaces represent violent and aggressive men from history, cast in bronze. A statue of Dave Myers, known for his kindness and positivity, would provide much-needed contrast and balance to these traditional representations.

Dave Myers is well-known for his cooking show 'The Hairy Bikers', where he hangs out with his mate Si riding around enjoying food and adventures together. His influence reaches millions across the UK (Broadcasters' Audience Research Board). By installing his statue at such a prominent location like Trafalgar Square's Fourth Plinth - which has been home to many contemporary art installations since 1999 - we can promote these values to a wider audience and perhaps change the national psyche' with regards to answering the question "What is a real man?".

The inscription on this proposed statue will feature some kind words from Dave himself, further emphasizing the message of positivity that he embodies. Rather than "Fighting them on the beaches" it may read a sweet and funny quote about enjoying a cup of tea on a lakeside with a good freind.

The beauty about Dave and Si's fan base is its everyone. Left or right, male or female, whatever your colour or religion. We all eat, we all love food and we all love the Hairy Bikers.

Let's make our public spaces more inclusive and representative by honoring those who inspire us with their kindness and positivity rather than their prowess in war or aggression.

Join us in calling upon the Mayor's Office for Policing And Crime to consider this proposal seriously. Sign this petition today!
