Every day, I find myself sitting precariously at the stop sign at the intersection of Rt 7 and 136, attempting a risky left turn. The roads in our community have become overcrowded, signalling a pressing need for increased safety measures and more efficient traffic systems, especially in this particular intersection. The addition of a roundabout at this location would drastically improve the situation. It's common knowledge that roundabouts reduce fatal accidents by 90% and increase flow of traffic by 30-50% (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety). Our community deserves the certainty of safety and the benefit of better time efficiency. It's time to replace the current, inadequate sign system and adopt a solution that has been proven to work.
