Install a Pedestrian Crossing at Hurst Road – Protect Our Community
The Issue
Every day, families with children, dog walkers, and elderly residents cross Hurst Road to reach Hurst Park, a beloved green space used for walking, recreation, and riverside access. Without a pedestrian crossing at the junction with Hurst Lane, they are forced to navigate fast-moving traffic with no safe way to cross.
Despite a 30mph speed limit, cars often speed at 40mph or more, as there are no speed cameras to enforce the limit. This puts lives at risk and creates daily stress for anyone trying to cross. The absence of a crossing isn’t just inconvenient – it’s dangerous.
With growing foot traffic and more families using the area, now is the time to act. Installing a pedestrian crossing would drastically reduce the risk of accidents, encourage walking and active lifestyles, and make the neighbourhood safer for everyone. We urge local authorities to prioritise this simple but life-saving change.
