Local residents of Mango Hill especially kids, teens, and families don’t currently have access to a nearby basketball court. While interest in basketball is growing fast in our area, the options for playing are limited. Lakeview Park, right next to 8 Deacon Crescent, has two ovals. One is used regularly for soccer and football, but the other (closer to the lake) is rarely used and often sits empty. This is a missed opportunity for the community.

Without a local court, people who love basketball are left without a convenient place to play, stay active, or socialise. Turning the unused oval at Lakeview Park into a half basketball court would bring life to a quiet space and provide a much-needed outlet for youth and families. If we don’t take this opportunity now, we risk wasting valuable community space that could otherwise promote health, inclusion, and connection.

Mango Hill is growing quickly, and recreational needs are growing with it. Installing a half basketball court at Lakeview Park would meet a real demand and make the most of a space that’s already there, waiting to be improved. With strong local interest and support, now is the perfect time to act. Sign this petition to show the Moreton Bay City Council that our community is ready for this positive change.
