Install a fence around Greenmeadows Park playground
Install a fence around Greenmeadows Park playground
The Issue
As a parent with young children, I know the overwhelming feeling of trying to manage multiple kids at once, especially in a space that's supposed to be safe and fun, like the playground at Greenmeadows Park in Saint Kilda East, VIC.
With large families common in our community, many of us find it challenging to keep our little ones within the designated playground area. The playground's location between two roads amplifies the potential danger, as children can easily wander towards the traffic.
Our playground should be a place where children can explore, play, and simply be kids without their parents having to constantly fear for their safety. The safety of our children is paramount, and it is time we take action to ensure this by installing a protective fence around the playground area.
A fence would serve as a secure boundary to keep children safe from road traffic and provide peace of mind for parents. Such an installation doesn't need to be elaborate; even a simple, sturdy barrier would suffice to keep our children out of harm's way and enhance their playground experience.
Studies show that enclosed playgrounds significantly reduce the risk of accidents related to road traffic, and they allow parents the chance to supervise their children more effectively without the looming worry of nearby roads. Other neighboring communities have successfully implemented playground fencing, and it has made a noticeable difference in child safety.
As well, we're asking Glen Eira City Council to consider adding a Shabbat friendly toilet, one that does not require the use of buttons, I.e a toilet with a manual door, a flush button and a sink that do not operate on sensors.
We kindly urge the local council to prioritize the installation of a fence around the Greenmeadows Park playground. Let's work together as a community to protect our children and provide them a safe environment to play and grow.
Please join our cause and help secure a safer playground for the children of Saint Kilda East by signing this petition today.
