The residents of North Nanaimo, BC, are currently experiencing inadequate cellphone service due to the lack of a local cellphone tower. This not only affects the quality of our daily communication but also poses potential risks during emergencies when reliable communication is crucial. As of 2023 over 106,000 people reside in Nanaimo with at least half of them located in North Nanaimo. With such a significant population size and growing reliance on mobile technology for both personal and professional use, it's imperative that we have access to consistent and reliable cellphone service.

On a personal level, I recently signed on for a cellphone plan (yes, I have been living in the dark ages) and discovered that I am unable to make or receive cellphone calls from my home without accessing Wifi. That is ridiculous!

It is imperative that our local government officials and telecommunications companies address this issue promptly by installing a new cellphone tower in North Nanaimo. Please sign this petition if you agree that we deserve better connectivity in our community.
