I, like many other, have experienced the inconvenience and safety risks of commuting to Partridge Creek Mall. The two closest bus stops are about an 18 minute walk by foot for an able bodied person; however, getting to these stops is a major safety risk, especially reaching the southbound stops at Macomb Community College Center Campus (MCC) and Macomb Intermediate School District (MISD). To reach the southbound MISD bus stop, one must navigate a route that forces them to cross at a dangerous intersection at Dove Street and Garfield Road, which is devoid of a crosswalk. Then one must trek past Macomb Community College, where there is no sidewalk to insure pedestrians’ safety. This is not about convenience, it is for creating a safe environment for everyone in the area who uses public transport.

The Mall at Partridge Creek serves as a vital hub for shopping, entertainment, dining, and employment in the Clinton Township and nearby cities in Michigan. Yet, the absence of a closer bus stop along the 550 route excludes those of us who heavily rely on public transportation, limiting access to the mall and impacting its potential business.

For the solution, SMART needs to be invited by Partridge Creek Mall to establish a dedicated bus stop. This would not only increase accessibility and patronage to the mall, but enhance the convenience and safety for the residents who rely on this bus system as well.
