Verify @trigoMEMEtry! (to improve meme culture on Instagram)

The Issue

Instagram is a good company. They have created a lot of opportunities for meme accounts on the platform.

However, I believe they are making a huge mistake by verifying the wrong meme accounts. Currently, verification badges are primarily given to accounts that are parts of bigger organizations who have profited off of others' content without their consent.  In addition, many verified meme accounts have gone private, which is not how the feature was meant to be used and is an abuse of the platform.

By verifying the wrong accounts, Instagram is encouraging others to follow their behaviors and seriously damaging the culture within the meme community.

Instagram should verify @trigoMEMEtry because the account has been constantly teaching the importance of posting content with permission and credit to creators.  By verifying the account, Instagram would encourage these behaviors and help fix the unethical content theft that currently thrives on the platform.

The requirements for verification are that your account must be authentic, unique, complete, and notable.

The account is authentic because it "represent(s) a real person, registered business or entity".  trigoMEMEtry LLC is a registered limited liability company in Virginia, so it meets this requirement.

The account is unique because it is "the unique presence of the person or business it represents".  @trigoMEMEtry is the unique account for trigoMEMEtry LLC and therefore meets this requirement.

The account is complete because it has "a bio, profile photo and at least one post". So, it cleary meets this requirement.

Most importantly for verification, the account is notable.  With 161k followers, it has many more than many meme accounts that are verified.  In addition, it has been covered in the mainstream media in multiple languages with the following articles:

Meme theft has become the norm. This high schooler is trying to change that with 'credit flexes' from Elon Musk and Lil Nas X.

Ante robo de memes, adolescente crea red de apoyo para exigir crédito a creadores

Gen Z sparked backlash by calling coronavirus the 'boomer remover,' but actual teens say it's not a serious trend

Here's how high schools have changed over the past decade, from vaping to TikTok clubs

So, if anyone at Instagram is reading this. Please consider redistributing verification badges in a way that would encourage good behavior within the meme community :)
