Stop Promoting Fast Fashion on Instagram

The Issue

The fashion industry is the second biggest contributor to climate change. Whether it's the water used to produce the fabrics, the chemicals used for the same reason, the waste produced from offcuts or off season items, whatever the excuse - the point still stands. For too long now, celebrities and influencers have been allowed to promote fast fashion giants on Instagram to their thousands of followers. Brands such as PLT,  Boohoo, Missguided, etc. Whether it's collaborating on brand deals or posting edited and filtered photos. However, there is never any mention of the horrific working conditions that the garment makers endure. There is never any mention of the shipping of these garments - usually from Asia to the UK/US. There is never any mention of the terrible, disposable quality of the products. There is never any mention of the fabrics used to create the garments - often a polyester of sorts (plastic). After Jameela Jamil had such a successful campaign to stop people promoting diet products on Instagram, we want to do the same for fast fashion. If people, especially young impressionable people, stop seeing this type of content online, they'll stop buying so much of it.
