Have Instagram Add a Setting That Allows You To Turn Off Quick Reactions
The Issue
We've all been there. Just tapping through our friend's stories and then boom. One mis-click or slip up and you send them a quick reaction. Your screen fills with the emoji you accidentally tapped and you're filled with dread as you go to unsend it, just to see the recipient has already seen it.
I've personally been in many situations where I've accidentally sent a quick reaction. The worst case was when my friend posted about her dog dying on her story and I accidentally dropped my phone and reacted with the dreaded "" emoji. I can't even fathom what she thought when she read it.
When someone deliberately sends me a quick reaction, I am dumbfounded. I have no way to respond. I post a picture of my dog and my friend replies with "". What do I do? I always end up just liking the message and going on with my day, but if their quick reaction reply has no real bearing on anything, then why even have them?
Some people enjoy quick reactions (for whatever reason), so I propose Instagram adds a setting that allows you to turn them off. When you turn them off, they will be disabled and you won't be able to send or receive any quick reactions.
Thank you for reading. I hope you consider signing.
