Recently Instacart reinstated their batch assignment, or selection priority by a rating system.  

Thus shoppers with a “5 star” rating get access to the best and highest earning batches as they drop into the app. 
That seems fair, right? Until you are a shopper hit by a couple one, two or even three star ratings by customers that are wrong, or even dishonest to get something free from Instacart. 
Customers get instantly rewarded and we suffer!


If it’s happened to you, and you know you didn’t deserve the low rating because the cause was not your fault, please sign this petition! 


in recent weeks I have had three customers lie about the order I delivered. In one instance they said an item was missing, took away my tip, and then gave me a one star rating. 
Even after proof to Instacart, a screenshot of the picture sent to instacart where you can see the item she claimed missing, the receipt showing purchase, I still can’t get her one star rating off my account unless I keep doing more batches until it eventually drops off. 
IT TAKES 100 ORDERS! 
Thats right. One hundred. 

Another instance, the customer responded to the reason they gave me a 3 star rating was because Costco didn’t have the toilet paper they wanted. THAT IS NOT MY FAULT. Yet her rating put me back on the “D list” as I call it. In less than a week after getting out from the 1 star mentioned above, I’m back to the bottom of the batches. Even if I do keep shopping, the next order I take can do the same thing. This can just keep happening without recourse. 

Thats a lot of shopping and when you are so far under your peers now in ratings, it’s almost impossible to get a batch worth getting into your car and driving for. 
Here’s my REAL issue with this, there is no guarantee that the next customer won’t do the same thing. You’re running in a hamster wheel, doing everything possible to get back on track but a few days later, another dishonest customer drops a 3 star rating on you and you’re back to square one! 
This system is flawed. INSTACART provides no restitution for the Shopper even with proof of their delivery, item, etc. They offer no department, resource, phone number or other, for us to dispute these issues. 
Yet they can resolve a customer complaint in an hour! 
This has directly impacted my, and other Shoppers weekly income. Mine has been cut in half and left me unsustainable. 
It doesn’t seem to matter that I have hundreds of very nice comments on my account, it just takes a few dishonest customers to ruin my/our life as a shopper. 
This petition is a immediate request for a change in this policy.
We need Instacart to resolve our account and unwarranted ratings and fraudulent lies made by Customers trying to get free things from Instacart when it damages a Shoppers rating. When we have proof of our delivery, receipt for purchase and have many great ratings and comments from other customers this needs to be considered. We need a resource, a team dedicated to review our concerns, and be ABLE TO CHANGE THESE unwarranted low ratings that affect our lives! 

PLEASE Support your friends and neighbors who are Shoppers. Who have been out there through the lockdown/pandemic, and now get their livelihood taken away by dishonest customers. This is WRONG and MUST CHANGE!
