Inspiring Change at Hilbert College

Inspiring Change at Hilbert College
The Issue
Dear Hilbert College Administration,
We, the students of Hilbert College, wish to address an important issue concerning our campus safety services. With the transition from our former campus safety team to the new company now in charge, we believe it is an opportune time to advocate for additional changes that will greatly enhance our college experience.
Our primary areas of concern and proposed improvements include
1. Safety and Training Expectations for New Campus Safety Officers at Hilbert College
As Hilbert College transitions to a new campus safety provider, we propose the new security company to be properly trained in emergency response, first aid, mental health first aid, conflict resolution, crisis management, diversity and inclusion, and community engagement. With the proper training, the new campus safety officers would be well prepared to protect and support the campus community.
2. Enhanced Mental Health Services:
- Increase the availability of mental health professionals on campus.
- Provide more comprehensive mental health resources and support systems.
- Implement regular mental health awareness and wellness programs.
3. Amplified Student Voice:
- Establish a clear and accessible platform for students to voice their concerns and suggestions.
- Ensure that student representatives are actively involved in decision-making processes.
- Regularly survey the student body to gather feedback on campus issues and improvements.
We believe that by addressing these areas, we can foster a safer, more supportive, and more engaging campus environment for all students. We urge the administration to consider these changes and look forward to working together to make Hilbert College the best it can be.
