Inpatient mental health and drug rehab in Kootenai county that takes state insurance
The Issue
Since the closing of Kootenai county's only inpatient mental health and drug treatment facility i have encountered folks in a mental psychosis that were taken in to the emergency department, sedated and then released with in 24hrs. Still being in the same psychosis a week later left alone to try to stumble through daily life alone. No follow ups, no notifications to families or their mental health clinicians. Just simply drugged and released as if that solves their issue. With people in these states if it is due to mental health issues, a drug induced psychosis, suicide attempt or attempt to receive help on either platform not only is there no longer a facility for them the jail will soon be over run with folks who never should of ended up in the system. Sure there are other drug treatment centers in Kootenai county however none of them have any mental health departments nor do they take medicaid or medicare. Which mind you 90% of the folks that need these services only have the means of state insurances. Hearing the many negative comments of the homeless population growing in our neighboring state of Washington will shortly be a duplicate situation here if something is not done here and fast. Please help be a part of the solution instead of just watching the problem grow. Thank You
