Innocent, Silenced, Still Standing

Innocent, Silenced, Still Standing
The Issue
📖 My Story
My name is James Hobson, owner of Hobson’s Junk Express Removal, LLC, and a lifelong resident of Brandon, Mississippi. I am a proud graduate of Brandon High School, Hinds Community College, and Mississippi College, where I was both a student-athlete and honors student.
I was raised with strong Christian values by my parents—values that shaped my life, career, and community service.
But in 2007, my life was turned upside down when I was wrongfully convicted of a crime that never happened.
⚖️ The Injustice
The accusation was based only on a false claim—with no witnesses, no physical evidence, and no proof.
I was arrested and given a $1,000,000 bond, later reduced to $500,000—far beyond what my family could afford.
I sat in jail for nine months before being bound over to Rankin County.
My public defender failed to represent me, pressured my family, and coerced us into accepting a plea deal.
I served 3 years in prison and 7 years on probation—for a crime that never came to fruition.
For the past 18 years, I have carried the weight of this injustice—facing job losses, mental anguish, physical health struggles, and the pain of being silenced when I tried to tell my story.
🙏 Why I’m Speaking Out Now
With encouragement from my mother, mentors, and community partners, I am stepping forward today to finally share my truth.
I believe God has sustained me, but I also believe He works through people. That is why I am asking you—the community, advocates, and people of faith and justice—to stand with me.
📝 What You Can Do
Please join me in demanding:
A review of my case and wrongful conviction.
Accountability for the failures of the legal process that denied me justice.
Restoration of my name, rights, and dignity after years of suffering.
