There is community concern that increased commercial  use of The Henson Park by Corporate Giant The AFL will lead to an increased amount of time The Henson Park will have its gates locked for community use and off leash dog walking.  The gates at Henson park must be kept open for all to enjoy with the expectation of The Newtown Jets games to raise funds for the club.

Your open spaces are valuable and ever decreasing with the rise in developments and population in Marrickville. On the 3rd of May community feedback closes then Innerwest council will vote to approve major changes to The Henson Park, Heritage Grand Stand and The Canteen building with proposed plans by Architects contracted by The AFL. We propose that this decision be postponed until commercial interests are made public and that ongoing community use and off leash Dog walking be openly included in the Development proposal. How often could the community be locked out of Henson Park by profit seeking corporations ?
