Initiate early miscarriage testing for women

Initiate early miscarriage testing for women
The Issue
Experiencing a miscarriage is an emotionally devastating event that leaves many women and families reeling with questions and uncertainty. For too long, countless women are left in the dark after suffering miscarriages and losses and are unaware that they must endure a second miscarriage before any additional tests or medical support are offered. This delay not only violates a woman's right to comprehensive healthcare but also increases the emotional and physical toll that repeated losses can have.
This issue is deeply personal to me. After my first miscarriage, I consulted numerous healthcare providers but was informed that testing or extra support would only be provided if I experienced a second loss. Tragically, I did experience a second miscarriage—a heartbreaking outcome that perhaps could have been avoided if I had been given access to the appropriate medical resources and support earlier on. If I had known about the additional guides and tests available, maybe my story would be different today.
We should be openly educated on this from the get go to give our babies the best chance.
The current standard practice of waiting until two miscarriages occur before intervening is not acceptable. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, early testing can include evaluations for anatomical, hormonal, or genetic factors that could potentially prevent future losses. We need to advocate for change now. Implementing early testing means giving every woman a fighting chance to understand her unique health needs and take proactive steps toward a healthy pregnancy and baby.
We urge legislative bodies and healthcare systems to revise the guidelines, ensuring that women who suffer one miscarriage are offered full access to medical evaluations and support services immediately thereafter. By prioritizing early intervention, we can provide families with the information and care they need, thus preventing unnecessary future losses and the accompanying emotional trauma.
Please join me in calling for this vital change. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of so many families. Sign this petition and help us push for early testing and support for women who experience one miscarriage, so that no more families have to go through the pain of repeated loss.
