The Issue

I am a student in India, and like millions of others, I have looked up to Shri Sonam Wangchuk Sir for his relentless commitment to education and innovation. His initiatives have not only energized the student community but also brought light to important issues such as educational reform and the need for constitutional protection for Ladakh. Sonam Wangchuk Sir is currently on an 18-day hunger strike at Jantar Mantar, Delhi. He is not fighting for personal gains but for our future, for the rights of students and the development and protection of Ladakh.

Despite the grave risk to his health, the government has yet to open a dialogue with him. His demands and his vision for a reformed educational system are pivotal for millions of students like me. It is crucial that the authorities hear him out and recognize the urgency of his cause. To ignore his peaceful protest is to ignore the future of education in India and the pressing need to address the problems faced by Ladakh.

We cannot wait for another day while a leading figure in educational reform risks his health to secure a better future for us all. We must ensure that Sonam Wangchuk Sir's demands are heard and his health is safeguarded. Our silence will not only risk the well-being of a monumental figure but may compromise the very cause he is dedicating his life to.

Join me in urging the government to immediately initiate dialogue with Sonam Wangchuk. It's time for our voices to be heard, for education reform to be prioritized, and for Ladakh's constitutional protection to be ensured. Please sign this petition and help us make a difference in securing a better future for students.
