I, along with many disillusioned Nebraskans, am calling for a recall of Senator Mike McDonnell (@McDonnell4Leg). My primary grievance lies in McDonnell's failure to support our people and the values of the Republican Party when it most counted - during the push for winner-take-all alterations to our electoral college system.

Under our current system, Nebraska is one of only two states that uses the Congressional District Method to allocate its electoral college votes, rather than the more common winner-take-all approach. In 2020, a bid to change this did put forward - a bid that, if successful, would have ensured a more uniform representation of our populace's will. Unfortunately, Senator McDonnell did not back this initiative.

Consistently, McDonnell has shown a disregard for aligning himself with his constituents and the party he supposedly represents. As reported by Nebraska Legislature records, his track record showcases an incongruity with our Republican values and objectives.

At the crux of democracy is the axiom that elected representatives must take into account the interests of their voters. Those that fail to respect this vital principle, like Senator McDonnell, should be held accountable. Signatures to this petition signify a vote of no confidence in Senator McDonnell, and a call for a recall.
