Neighbors please take a minute to tell Inglewood Unified School District Administrator Dr. Erika Torres to rescind her decision closing Warren Lane Elementary (aka Daniel Freeman Elementary). Money donated through this site does not go to the Warren Lane Community.

In June 2020 Dr. Torres announced that she planned to close Warren Lane without collaborating with parents, school staff, and the neighborhood. She changed her mind after the community made it clear that it wanted the school to stay open. Two years later, Inglewood Unified is fiscally solvent and passed a $240 million bond measure to fund upgrading its schools but she is announcing she is closing Warren Lane again.  

Warren Lane (Daniel Freeman) has a rich history as a neighborhood school and Dr. Torres has failed to explain again why she wants to close the only school in 90305. Whatever problems she has with Warren Lane, the school district has the ability to fix them.  

Warren Lane has received supplemental significant funding through the Russell Westbrook and Jared Goff foundations, and all of their generosity and goodwill is being discounted. 

Please sign this petition to tell the Los Angeles County Office of Education who is Dr. Torres’ boss that the City of Inglewood wants and deserves equitable treatment from the person they put in charge of its schools.
