Ask PETA to take a stand against feeding live animals to captive predatory animals.

Ask PETA to take a stand against feeding live animals to captive predatory animals.

The Issue

Please sign this petition:  At this time PETA has not stood up for the welfare of small animals who are being fed – while still alive! – to larger ‘rescued’ animals. We are asking PETA to officially take a stand against the live-feeding of rabbits, turkeys, and rats (and other live animals) to captive predatory animals.    Not only does research show that live-feeding is ineffectual in retraining bobcats and other large cats to reenter the wild as hunters, but live feeding is actually antithetical to that process for many reasons (e.g., domestically raised rabbits, when afraid,  excrete different types of hormones that are not duplicated by wild rabbits). Additionally, we ask that PETA declare that it is unethical to torture one animal in the hopes of saving a different animal.  By tacitly supporting the feeding of living rabbits to big cats (such as at Big Cat Rescue in tamp, FL), PETA also unwittingly is supporting the breeding of rabbits [by backyard breeders] to be used specifically as meat. We find it untenable that PETA speaks out about “fur” but will not address this situation of torture and abuse. We ask PETA to now take a strong stand against all animal torture, including live feeding.
